Washington University in St.
Louis—consistently ranked among the 20 best universities in the nation—is ranked 12th for undergraduate
programs among 262 national universities, according to U.S. News &
World Report's 2008 edition of America's Best Colleges guide.
Being nationally ranked has two advantages:
1) It makes Washington University more attractive to students and
faculty, and 2) it brings national attention to the University and
to St. Louis. The University's graduate and professional programs
also rank extremely well in U.S. News' 2008 rankings of Best
Graduate Schools.

Although rankings may not be
the best indicator of Washington University's underlying quality,
they make the University and St. Louis attractive to people throughout
the country.
